bowlingballreviews / 123bowl still infected?

I thought they were going to fix the problem or take it down.

Hit the site by accident and my a-v software went crazy!

Homepage still looks wrecked. IMHO it would be best to take it offline, as soon as you click any link there still seems to be some virusware lurking and infecting your computer.

Beware!

I only got as far as the homepage.  AVG went crazy, but I wasn't able to tell if I was actually infected or not.  I re-ran my AV scan and a couple of malware programs and they all came back negative, so hopefully I'm okay.

If you do a google search for yahoosite(dot)ru, it's the first site listed, and also marked as "This site may harm your computer."  Looks like some link to a javascript file.

I guess if they aren't going to fix it I may have to go ahead and create a host file to point it to a different address.

Anybody know of any other good sites to find information about old (and new) balls?  I liked being able to look up older equipment and see the stats and core pictures.

Try www.ballselector.com  They have a lot of the old balls.  You can search by type of ball and new or old.

Also, most manufacturer's websites have a listing of retired balls.  --  JohnP

I use AVG on one PC and it kind of goes into spasms when I try to bring up BBR.com and the whole PC just sort of goes into 300 baud mode. But nothing gets through AVG.

I accessed BBR.com on another PC with Norton and it shunted me to a McAfee website and warned me of virus and malware.

I tried to use Columbia's, but all they have is a a very basic description and a picture. Hardly any core info and usually not even a picture of the core.
Ebonite's and Track's are almost as bad.

Visionary's and Lanemasters' are the only ones with complete information.

BowlingBallReviews was an invaluable resource. I'd pay $50 per year for the service.

I took the site offline yesterday.  It will be down for some time, because the designer of the site refuses to do anymore work on the site, so I have to find a new person, and then see how much it will cost to fix the whole in the site, and get all the information fixed.  I will email everyone that is signed up for the site when it is back up and running.

Have to agree with you about the company sites.  I guess they are trying to get away from showing us the cores and making the information easy to find.

I did check out ballselector.com - looks pretty good.  Saw a couple of errors - Boom shows the core from Bash, but video (from Buddies) shows  different core.  Ebonite's site doesn't show a core pic at all.

Also, Ebonite Smash is actually a Smash Zone.

Still, better than not having anything at all.

I was actually looking for info on an AMF Bobcat.  It's probably a pancake core, but just curious as to when it was made, urethane or reactive, or any other details.  No info on the AMF site and nothing on ballselector either.  Don't know if BBR would have had it listed or not.

I really hope this site doesn't become a virus target.  --  JohnP
