??? on selling balls through this site
« on: March 03, 2005, 05:00:28 AM »
1.  how would I recieve payment?

2.  Am I expected to ship the ball before payment clears?

I have approx 8 hammer balls that I need to get rid of.

Thanks.

Both are pretty much up to you.  For example, when you list the balls, you can specify your preferred method(s) of payment, and indicate that you will ship at earliest convenience upon receipt of payment.  Then let the buyer decide whether those terms are acceptable.

For payment, I would think that it should be certified in some way, Money Order, Cashier's Check, PayPal (personal checks would be a mistake in my opinion)

AS far as shipping, it depends on what you are comfortable with.  For some of the users that are regulars or that you know to have good reputations I wouldn't have a problem shipping before I received payment.  But if you don't know them, I'd wait until the money is in your pocket.

Mr. Jenkins, there has been some people who have gotten burned on the site. Not sure if you have seen that or not. It is up to you if you want the money first. IMO if they dont wanna send the money first they had every intention of screwing you. I wouldnt trade with anyone that hasnt done business here before. UNLESS they have a good rep. I dont care if your Andy or BK's age or as young as sawbones, if you have a good rep on here, you usually keep those. Sorry for the rant just my 2 cents.

Why would you think taking a personal check would be a bad idea? Would you think the same thing if you could cash it before sending the item?

Because there is just more involved.  You have to worry about NSF, Stop Payments, and depending on the Buyers location and the Sellers location, I think a check generally takes at least a week to clear.  MO and Cashiers Checks are simpler, you know the money is there the moment you receive it.  I don't do much buying and selling on here, but from what I've observed, the simpler you keep the deal, the better the outcome.

That's probably his thinking.  Why bother waiting for a check to clear, when you can just get a money order or paypal and be done quickly?

Well, I don't know much about this but someone told me that you have just as much control over a MO as a check? I didn't understand how, but tis what I was told. Thanks
