i bowl in a pba experience league. 4 games on 2 different pairs. tonight was the last night of the cheetah pattern. i was 619 after 3 games then i just ran outta gas. the shot didnt leave i just couldnt stay on it. i know you guys will probably say wow 4 games and your toast? i bowl 2 leagues a week and i usually practice 6 games a week. basically im conditioned for a 3 game set or at least thats what i think. anyone have any suggestions to help me get through that wall? im not outta shape, unless 6-2 210 is outta shape. thanks in advance.

If you're honestly that concerned about bowling that many games and not getting burnt...there are a few suggestions I'd make.

1. Drink/Eat a LITTLE something while you're bowling. It keeps you mentally ready for the next shot. Just munch a Snickers or sip at a Pepsi...don't go all 3 course meal on it, because that's the complete opposite of help.

2. Try practicing a few more games per week. Rather than bowling 6, up it to about 10, and rather than all 6 at once, just bowl 3 or 4 games every time you go practice.

3. Enter into some tournaments. I know it sounds stupid, but one tournament game is equivalent to about 3 or 4 practice games. Part of it is you are 'out of your element,' while part is the pressure.

4. Make sure your heart is in it. If you don't really want to bowl, you aren't going to have the drive to keep going. I can bowl 30 games in a row, easily, provided I'm following everything I said above. Just keep yourself energized with a candy bar or fries or something small, spread out your practice sessions, and get all the experience at a competitive level that you can. On top of this all, if you're struggling, or your mind is somewhere else, you WILL run out of gas.

thanks for the advise. ill give it a try. when i practice, i usually only bowl 3 games. 2 games shootin at different spares and one just to see what i can score on that shot. ill try the munchie idea and a few more practice games. not ready for the tourneys yet. spare game isnt good enuff but im workin on it, and i joined the experience league for better focus and accuracy. so far its working.

cash910,

At 6'2", 210, you're the envy of many older men. I assume you're not ... old. If so, the simplest thing may be a build-up of practice games. Start with 6 games, then 8 for a few sessions. Don't try to go too fast, as is the tendency for most of us. ALthough you may not need it, at your size, you should be easily able to throw 12 - 16 games with ease.

One of the bases for bowling strength is the strength and endurance of the legs and thigh muscles.

One other thought, are you sure that maybe it was just the excitement of the moment that might have sapped your strenght? If it was the last night of the cheetah pattern, how many times have you already bowled? And did you get tired after 3 games every time?
