I have had just about enough of this stupid bowling industry guessing game that seems to be growing with each and every new formula of bowling ball and weight block. Cant this industry find a away to rank every bowling ball uniformally? Hook ratings, spin rate, back end angles, surface... all of it means nothing if every manufacturer uses a different set of scales and its a guessing game to determine if this ball will hook more for me than a differnt ball. And not to mention layout considerations. I spend more money on bowling balls that dont do as I expect it to than I do getting the right one on the first try. Not all proshop operators are the sharpest cookie and I bet they would like to have those standards too.
You would think, that USBC could simply drill every ball the same, use the same oil pattern on the lane and use that million dollar throwbot to throw it the same way and simply provide uniform details. (I mean what exactly does USBC do for there $10k fee to approve a bowling ball?)
Ok ... BTM does attempt to provide alot of details.. but quite frankly I cant decipher all that to determine the pecking order of balls. I LOVE my widow and despite all the reviews I read, I was not prepaired for how much that ball hooks in the midlane despite drilling it will a 5.5" pin to pap and above the fingers. Every other ball on the market drilled that way with 4000 surface oob will skid snap for me... this ball is arcing in the midlane and then still snaps. And now there are several out on the market and just which one is a clear step down???
Cant this industry do us a favor and find away to help us get it right on the first try since we are spending upwards of $200 for each ball? Come on.. you gotta be kidding me... am I the only one thinking this?
