Hypothetical question regarding polish?
« on: July 31, 2008, 11:20:25 AM »
I have thought about it a couple times before. Has anybody else thought of taking a stronger covered solid, or any ball for that matter, and just polishing one side of the ball to see what kind of reaction it might give you.

I was thinking it would act like a hybrid in a way, don't know, am thinking of finding out

Has anyone tried this? I am interested, it may sound stupid, but like I said it is hypothetical.

Not legal. Surface should be uniform.

I actually do this with tests on Abralon, W/S, Polish and such......

But only in practice and not league or competition...

Figure takes half the work and actually works very well....

There was one time, that a friend of mine and myself were curious about the same thing.  So he had a ball he didn't really want anymore, believe it was an Ebonite Matrix Dynasty, and we had fun with it.  Took one side down to 220-grit, took the other side to 2000 grit and then polished the crap out of that side.  Were talking 6-7 coats of polish.  Ball rolled weird, but really didn't roll as weird as I was expecting.  You could watch it go down the lane, and try to grab then slide then try to grab and slide.  But as Johns said, its not legal.  And its really not something you'd want for a tournament anyway.
