« on: November 20, 2009, 01:40:34 PM »
Had a chance to win the 3rd game for my team and threw the first one and then threw a horrible shot so now I am going to start the FISJAM instead of FIGJAM. Just in case you didn't figure it out the s stands for suck.

You stole my thunder...I was just about to start a thread entitled "Yay for consistency" to celebrate this little number from Thursday night: 179, 158, 252. Yes, the house tweaked the shot this week (changed programs on their Kegel machine and took it up a notch or two difficulty-wise) but there's no excuse for 158 and especially not for missing four single pins in the same set.

Guy I used to bowl with (a very good bowler with multiple regional cashes) has at least one series where he shot 300 but failed to hit 600. One of those was a series that had a game of under 100 included (seven splits).

He's obviously not as good as he thinks he is. How do you allow yourself as a bowler with regional experience to shoot under 100? I don't care how many splits he left, there's no excuse for that.

Make an adjustment. Make a ball change. Throw plastic at the 1-3. Do something.

He is very good. Big-time action player, nice guy, very tough to beat under any condition. Not full of himself, either. There's not really a "not as good as he thinks he is" component in play here.

His preferred line is very deep, and we've all had nights when you're playing that deep and there's just a pinch difference between a 4-9 and a 2-8-10. Well, imagine the worst carry luck you've ever had and it's all strung together in the same game. I think he had seven splits and a flagged 10-pin and there you go.

You want to talk consistency, my first ever 300 came in the first game of a set, went 300 - 157 - 269, talk about f-ing up a great series.

When I shot my first 300 in '97, I went 300, 166, 167.
2 weeks ago I open up with 268, 266 and close with 192.  I'm all about consistency

A guy on my team shot his first 300 with a set of: 165, 300, 165...

My problem was I was bowling on wood lanes. The lanes were decent the first game, just too much back end and too many splits. Switch balls the second game and al were flush except the last for the 300. Stayed with the ball and it became too much for the lanes, since 3 other people move in on my line after they seen me shoot the 300....jerks! lol
