Here goes:
Traded a ball to another user. The ball was in, what I considered to be, good-very good condition. There were two or three 3-4 inch, thin, shallow scratches, all of which would've come out easily with a light resurfacing. I disclosed the info about these scratches to the buyer. Besides those marks, there were no other noticeable marks on the ball.
The buyer and I completed a trade. I assumed everything was fine. Then, earlier this week, I get a message from the user saying that, without looking at the ball, he traded it to another user. That user claimed that the ball was "completely trashed". He claimed it was peppered with scratches, so bad, in fact, that his pro shop guy claimed that there was nothing that he could do to fix them.
Knowing the condition that I sent the ball out it, I was very surprised to hear all of this. Even though I know, in good conscience, that I sent a ball that was in fact good-very good condition, I was deeply troubled by this because I take great pride in my rep on this site.
Because of that, I offered to send back the ball that I received in trade and to pay to have my ball returned to me. The user claimed that it was no big deal and declined. Not satisfied, I contacted the recipient of my ball to ask for further info, and to request pictures of all of this unaccounted for damage. Unfortunately, he does not have any pics.
Anyone who's completed multiple trades on this site knows that misunderstandings about a ball's condition happen all of the time, but never to such an extreme level. Something went array somewhere.
My question is this, what do you do when something like this happens?
This has really bothered me. I've done business with several people on here, and I take pride in providing them with quality equipment. Was there anything more that I could've done here? Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
