Kegel Broadway Pattern Help
« on: January 19, 2015, 06:01:27 AM »
I bowled in a no tap tournament this weekend which had a Kegel Broadway pattern.  From what i gather its almost identical to the Cheetah.   I am a low rev bowler and usually play down and in over 2nd arrow.  I could not get my ball to finish on this Pattern. I have a 505c2 taken down to 1000 grit and a 706a Oob finish. The 706 seemed to never turn over or get into a good roll,  and the 505 barely did anything.  I was looking for some advice on how to play this shot.

A couple weeks ago i bowled in this tournament and the 706 was really jumpy, but i at least had a shot.  I am not sure if it was the same pattern or not, but this time I was getting very little ball reaction.

did you try playing another line? Even though last time it was jumpy, if other people playing on the lane are playing that same line esp higher rev rate, it could have made the ball more jumpy.

From what i read the break point is supposed to be as close to the channel as possible .  Hardly anyone was playing out there though so maybe the oil got pushed outside.  I did pitch a couple out there and the ball did not fully recover.  I also bowled the second squad so who knows how the oil moved around... I threw the ball decent the second game i was coming up just a hair light and left 8 counts.  I finished with 3 perfect strikes and thought i had it figured out.  Next game we switched pairs and i was back to being lost.   I did not try an inside line i moved right and also tried moving about a foot back.

there could be a lot of factors to be honest, you had the ball with surface at 1000 so it could have been burning up in the fronts before even reaching the break point but i doubt that. Where was everyone else playing on the lane? Do you know your axis tilt and rotation by any chance?

The 505 is drilled at 30 4.5 35...  I have a low track and my tilt is 12.5 degrees.  I do not know what my other stats are.   I do not know how the 706a is layed out.

If you are low rev then you should be close to the ditch.  You may have had recovery issues because you were swinging it out, maybe try playing straight down 4 or so and see.

I haven't played the Broadway, but even on the cheetah, I don't try to hook the lane.  More up and in around 5-7 board with a relatively tame ball.

Our challenge league is on Broadway and I had a 1023/4 a couple of nights ago.
It is 37' 4-1 and flat from about 9-9 with unlimited room right if you can get the ball to the spot early.

My 3 best options are a Rude Dude drilled label leverage at 2k which is great on fresh, a red misfit 60x3.5x60 at 2k and a Terror drilled 45x4.5x45 with a LOT of games at 3k.  These balls all let me square up my angles and not worry about over reaction if I catch the friction too early

My thoughts are that you are likely too deep with your feet.  Consider getting your feet right, maybe even taking the surface back to 2k (1k may burn up) and try something pin right or pin down.
