We are currently bowling all leagues in our center on Chameleon. This is a challenge, perhaps too much so for the lower avarage bowlers. We are considering putting out the Kegel Middle Road pattern instead. Anyone here with experience from bowling both these patterns? How do they differ in reality? How much easier is Middle Road for lower average bowlers?

I've been bowling on the Kegel pattern for 2 weeks now and I feel that it would be easier for lower average bowlers. There are more boards of miss than the chameleon pattern. This will help the lower average bowlers who are not as accurate on every shot.

Thanks mjschrems!
Comparing the settings for these patterns Middle Road looks like it would transition a bit slower than Chameleon. Plus, Middle Road looks a tad easier outside the 10 board than Chameleon. That's the theory, anyway.

I have bowled the Middle Road pattern here in Europe in and EBT tourney and shot 120 over and didn't make the cut..
MUCH easier than the Chameleon that is for sure...lots of attack angles and good couple boards of miss room

Thanks srlunatic!
Which EBT tourney was that? We're in Sweden, maybe there were countrymen of mine taking part that I can ask directly.

Depending on who it is, where you are, and what the league bowlers want, the Kegel pattern is definitely easier.
However, the bowlers will improve in the longrun if they are bowling on tougher, sport-compliant patterns more often. I think it's a great idea for a center to run one of the middle length PBA patterns as the "House" Shot. (Chameleon/Viper)

Righty
High rev rate (400-450 rpm)
Semi-high speed (16-17 mph)
Book average: 202
For a game based on the principles of science and math, bowling sure does have a bad habit of being illogical.

srlunatic,
Was that the 2008 Dutch Open? According to the website they used Beaten Path (41ft).
Harnosand, eh? That's only 162 miles north of my town.
Lycka till med svenskan!
