Kegel patterns ??
« on: May 05, 2008, 06:09:51 AM »
We're going to be seeing a few of these patterns from Kegel in our tough shot league this year. Middle Road - Route 66 - Winding Road - Boardwalk - Deadmans Curve and Highway to H-E double toothpick.

Anyone here bowl on these patterns ? How do they compare to the PBA's and the normal sport shot patterns ?

Thanks

ive bowled on most of them by bowling in college. im not to fimiliar to the sames and what they are closly related to (pba patterns) but they are smiliar i know for sure boardwalk plays way out. its short like 35 plays like cheetah just not as much hold at times from what ive seen. just experiment and find a line. dont worry about what pattern they are supposed to play like. good luck

That should be a pretty good starting point to gauge your shot...

The boardwalk is not that bad of a shot, but the breakpoint is the 3-4 board.  Fortunately, I've found using much weaker equipment, you could play the 5-6 area fairly well as they breakdown.

Dead mans curve plays a lot like a house shot, except no margin of error.  If you miss, you SOL.

Consistency in ball speed and release are critical on all these shots.

Will your league be sanctioned as a sport league or is it going to be just another "renegade sport league" that will produce more bowlers with averages far below their abilities?

It is a sanctioned league. We bowl on all the named PBA patterns as well, including the TOC,PBA World Championship, and the US Open. We bowled on some of the older patterns the PBA used in the past, but now they want to try these new patterns out.

Bill Thomas, I know you don't mean that lol. You mean a league that will produce bowlers truer to their abilities, but much lower than they would average on a THS.
