Kelly Kulick jumps ship, joins Storm
« on: June 11, 2013, 10:16:44 AM »
Kelly just tweeted this information.
Last man standing at EBO is Tommy Jones.
Mitch Beasley is the last pro at Track.
Dan Maclelland and Chris Barnes are the last male pros at C300
Bill O'Neill last male pro at Hammer.

Thoughts?

Anyone know if EBI even offered Kelly a contract?
Or did Storm just offer more?

She had been using Ebonite balls for a pretty long time now.
With her slower ball speed I wonder if Storm balls will give her an edge?

If there are any staff changes that aren't on the websites, I apologize. I just read what was up there, and took Kelly off.

That's all you can do.
PBA Staffers have always been in a state of flux except for very few. Even Pete Weber went from AMF, with whom his Dad for his whole career, to Storm. Changes became a noticeable thing when WRW went from the original Hammer to Brunswick.

I like the idea that Mitch Beasley stays with Track due to his everyman type of style. He doesn't throw 200 rpms and he doesn't throw 600 rpms. He isn't slow and he isn't fast. I feel I can really gauge a ball's comparative reaction by watching him throwing a couple of different balls.

But I am shocked by Kelly's no longer being with Ebonite, and glad Storm offered her a contract.

Going from Ebonite to Storm is like going from Dodge to a BMW, not really any comparison.  I can't see anyway that Kelly's move to Storm won't allow her have even better results.

I do have to say, if I was going to go donate at a PBA event, I would go donate with Storm. Gives me the best chance of not donating as much as I would with another PBA registered brand.

I find that comparison, not exactly appropriate unless you're Storm fan(atic).
Then I can understand it.

How can you do "better" than beating 4 of the best on TV to win THE most prestigious bowling tournament in the world, bar none, The Tournament of Champions?
(Even though this is now "ancient" history to most younger bowlers.)

That said, I believe that Storm's typical ball reaction of more length and more backend, may wind up being beneficial to Kelly's slower ball speed.

Congratulations to Kelly, a step up for sure, not only equipment but with that all important staff support, Del and company.
Plus she'll help Storm sell equipment to the female side of the sport.

Not sure how true, but I read on another site that Kelly said Ebonite didnt even offer her a new contract....that's crazy if it's true. And if it's true I dont blame her one bit for jumping ship.

Add to that I hear that Tommy Jones is jumping to Hammer, so looks like Ebonite will have no one on exclusive staff for that brand....

Look for Ebonite to not product register all 4 brands on the PBA tour next year.   It would appear that the Ebonite family is looking to reduce staff and reduce the number of product registered companies next season.

That's my prediction on what is going on with all of these staff changes.

My guess is that Ebonite and Track will be out of PBA tour play and Columbia and Hammer will stay.

I don't know how long Barnes has on his contract so that might change what brand says in play.

Just pure speculation at this point.

Kelly just tweeted this information.
Last man standing at EBO is Tommy Jones.
Mitch Beasley is the last pro at Track.
Dan Maclelland and Chris Barnes are the last male pros at C300
Bill O'Neill last male pro at Hammer.

Actually, Dan MacLelland is no longer with C300.  He switched with Track.  Jesse Buss and Mika also now exclusively throw Track.  Mitch Beasley is still on the Track staff, so that will make 4 staffers with that brand.

Chris Barnes, Lynda Barnes, Wendy MacPherson, and Clara Guerrero are the last people standing C300.

TJ and Amleto Monacelli are the last men standing at Ebonite (Amleto is now one of their territory sales reps and he now throws Ebonite exclusively.)

Bill O'Neill and Shannon Pluhowsky are the last people left at Hammer.

Mike Wolfe jumped ship from all 4 EBI brands to become a Roto Grip regional staffer.  Rick Steelsmith also jumped ship and is now a Storm regional staffer.

Doug Kent is no longer listed as a regional staffer for any of the EBI products.  He's a free agent as he's not listed on any site now.  He was throwing Hammer most of the time.

So with all of that, Track should be registered this coming year.  They wouldn't have added 3 more staff members otherwise.  I also think that Columbia and Hammer may stay.  If it's between Hammer and C300, I would think Hammer gets the nod as it seems to sell better in the shops.

Ebonite on the other hand may be the brand that doesn't get registered.  And that would be completely stupid as Ebonite is the flagship brand of Ebonite International.
