Dropping My Shoulder ( Pushing Out)
« on: February 23, 2004, 04:58:56 PM »
Last night in league play i started off good bowled 10 pins above my average, thought i was gonna have a good week . But for some reason i kept on dropping my shoulder and pushing the ball out as the lanes started to dry up . Cause of the lane conditions there usually oily and slick so i go alot straighter. This week they were medium an dried up fast so i moved to the left an tried to find a good angle by the second game. But for some reason when i moved left i was pushing the ball out instead of throwing to my mark . I tried to adjust my footing to angle myself toward the pocket  for a better line and too keep my shoulders more square but it wasn't helping .
I was wondering if any one knows of a technique or an adjustment that i could try this week in practice to keep my shoulders more square and have a more straighter approach. I didn't finish off too too bad i just barely maid a 500 series. But i hate being the weakest link. If anybody has  any suggestions please post.

When you push away, visualize your ring finger reaching out directly to your target.
And - often, people pull the ball when they have fast feet. Maybe you are speeding up your feet in an effort to speed up the ball??

My shoulder drops a tad, but if it drops to much, I pull the ball.

I do try to speed up my feet to have a faster ball, i try to drive with my legs a lil to get more speed. Thanks for the advice on reaching out to my target and using my ring finger. Some people on my team were telling it was bad to drop my shoulder and push out , so i was  all over the place on monday. Thanks for the reply Bullred, Mumzie and Channel surfer.
