Should one score better in a three game set or four?  Anyone? If so, which one did you score higher in and what do you think reason was?  Gom

I bowled both in the same house.  Three games on first shift one night and four games on the second shift across four pairs a couple days later.  Had both averages usually within a pin or two and most years, but not always, it was the four game league that the average was slightly higher.  Doesn't make any sense, because the lanes are usually a lot more challenging with the carrydown and different wear patterns due to the people on the pair ahead of you on second shift.  But that is just the way it is.  It could be just because the caliber of competition was higher on the second shift league that you had to concentrate better in the scratch league as opposed to the first shift handicap league.  Could be the teammates input too.  Who knows?

Your average will depend more on the pace of play.

Most 4 game leagues are bowled with less than 5 person teams. Generally 3 person or less. The faster pace of play will allow for higher scores.

The better comparison would be 3 person teams vs. 4 vs. 5. I bet for each additional bowler added your average will generally go down.

I have almost always averaged higher in my 4 game trio league than in my 3 game 5 person team league.

we ahve 3 leagues at my house which are 4 games, and they all have 4 player teams. on sundays, we start at 12:30pm, and are usually finished around 3:30pm
