Kinda chuckled at this last night...
« on: February 17, 2005, 07:39:25 AM »
Went and rolled a few games last night while the GF was teaching night class at the local college.

Anyway, our City tourney is next weekend and there are two houses in town...ours, tougher conditions/synthetic lanes and the other one, wood lanes with easy conditions.  Team event will be held in the "easy" house and singles/doubles at our house.

On with the story...
Two guys from the easy house came in to "practice" for the doubles/singles portion of the tournament at our house.  They came down to the lane beside me.  Both wheeled in two-ball bags and whipped out their arsenals...

Bowler #1...a Columbia White Dot and a USA Viz-a-ball
Bowler #2...also a Columbia White Dot and Brunswick Target Zone

Needless to say, neither shot over 140 with their spare balls, at least during the games I was there...they couldn't understand why their balls weren't hooking like they do at the "easy" house!  It was all I could do to keep from laughing at these two...

Wow, that's amazing.  I wonder which one was the spare ball?

*laugh* Bowled against the exact opposite this past Tuesday: A member of the opposite team was using a Show Time sanded as his "strike" ball and a Prime Time sanded as his "spare" ball.  Duplicate layouts and no change in release or speed.

Kill the back row (or maybe this should read "make your spares, dummy")

Why would you ever carry to plastic balls? Or balls not meant for hooking atleast.

an older lady in our handicap league carries 2 balls, with her 125 average. Her "strike" ball is an 8 pound white dot. Her "spare" ball is a 6 pound white dot.
She uses the spare ball every second shot, even if she guttered on the first shot!

a friend uses an xcel particle as his 10pin ball....and a yeah baby as strike ball.....of course he throws near 30mph...if you could use over 16lbs he could easily handle it

the xcel goes dead straight and the yeah baby arcs somewhat

weve even slowed him down from where he first started, all he has to do is tap the headpin and the wood starts flying.

Well, it is technically a spare.

His didn't!  Plastic goes straight at this house...at the other house, even plastic looks like it hooks on that funnel they have...
