If I begin to lose reaction or carry with a ball, I will let the situation dictate what I do. For example, if I will make the cut with just reasonable scores, or even sub-par scores I will stay with the ball I'm using, if I'm down in a match, or need some big numbers to make the cut, then I'll take a chance and go for the carry. In an ABT last month, I used my Inferno the last few games and shot nice scores with it, I'm +135 after 4, with one game left, but it's a pretty high scoring shot, so I'm decent, not great. Open the first two frames with the Inferno, then make a nice shot, and leave a solid 10. Decided the Inferno was burning up a bit as I was playing deep inside, and would not carry consistently that game, due to the hole I dug myself in in the first 3 frames, I went to my Hot Wire, and threw the next 8 in a row to pull out a nice 247, and placed 3rd. If I was to have filled the first 3 frames with spares, I would have felt I had a safe line that wasn't getting me in too much trouble and finished up with the Inferno. For me, changing balls is a bit of a risk, and I let the situation dictate whether or not I need to take the risk.
