Kingpin Challenge postponed?
« on: October 03, 2005, 09:04:11 AM »
I was on bowl.com earlier today and saw that the Kingpin tournament was cancelled....  I just went on there and the article is not on there anymore..  Does anyone know if it is still going on?

Haven't seen any official word on this, but the PBA forums are abuzz with this.  Apparently the tournament has been "postponed," whatever that means.

Hey Dermot, wherever you are...care to chime in here and set us all straight on this?

Yup. Postponed.

And a few really ticked off people, too...

Just got off the phone with Dave Husted.
Here's the scoop:

As of a couple of weeks ago, they had 1000 entries... Or so he was told.
They had to finalize a few TV things, but things were going good.

As of this morning, it is POSTPONED (not cancelled) till sometime in 2006. Supposedly due to entries. Don't know any more than that.

Hope this helps.

Mo was in town today and he was telling us and others it was cancelled. Postponed is better than not at all, except for Scott (pro shop boss) already has his flight booked and rental car/hotel paid for......hopefully he can get a refund and/or credit until the tournament is on....
