Kitty Litter?

OK, I know this has been posted before, but is it really true that kitty litter can have the same effect as Hook Again?  I noticed some people said it seemed like kitty litter.  Is there any truth to this, or is it just a myth?  That would be cool if it's true, since i need to restore my ball, and I have cats!  But I think it's just a myth.
