KMT BALL JIG
« on: September 05, 2014, 09:00:41 AM »
This is the kind of letter I enjoy getting from customers:

I'm really happy with the jig, works like a charm, was real easy for me (likely easier since I used to drill at a pro shop years ago), and I've changed out over 20 thumb slugs with it already.

Just wanted to let you know that I successfully changed out my #5 pitch plate bushing with no problem, luckily I have an arbor press that really made the process easier. Other than that, I have drilled out over 50 balls, including thumb slug changeouts and drill outs for plugging without a hitch. I'm really happy with the product! I started using the Pro Edge Custom Thumb Molding system and I've never had equipment that fit so good ball to ball!

Do you mean as opposed to ones that read something similar to or ending with; "I want my money back.;D
"If guns kill people, do pencils misspell words?"

"If you don't stand for our flag, then don't expect me to give a damn about your feelings."

Is this the hand-held drill into the contraption thing from the past, again?    :-\

I'd love the drillers (kidlost / JustRico / buddies) to weigh in w/their analysis........out of sheer curiosity.

I can speak for kidlost.  We had one and it worked great.  I even ordered multiple drill bits from them.  Great product for an individual looking to drill at home!!!!

Nice, as long as it is accurate I suppose.

Dead on
If you look at the construction of the device, you will notice that the pitch plates are made to direct the drill bit at a specific angle, always landing the drill bit at top dead center of the ball.  For instance, the #3 plate is manufactured to direct the drill bit at an offset angle of 1/4"  The only variable is ball placement.  As long as you place the ball in the jig in the right direction, the pitch will always be dead on.

I tested this product before it was listed on bowlers paradise.com a few years ago.  I was as skeptical as anyone could be  After trying it I can guarantee you that if I drilled you a ball with it and you didn't watch you would not be able to tell if I used this jig and a cordless drill or a mill setup.

Well, so much for a lot of the BR crowd.  ;D

All kidding aside, I wish I had the mechanical ability to give it a try. With all the equipment I have drilled up, I'd save a bundle in the long run.

If you can operate a hand held drill, you can drill your own ball.

If anyone is interested, here's a website with a great review of this product.

It goes step by step with pics, from unboxing the KMT to drilling a ball

http://www.velobowling.com/KMT_product_reviews.html

If I had the money, I'd get one. Just to say I drilled my own ball with it.

kmtproshop needs to run a contest and give away one of these things,(Maybe I'd get lucky)
