I know the problem, and here's what I did, helped a lot:
1) Slow down the feet, wait for the pendulum
2) Keep your upper body upright, "bold breast".
3) When you start in the adress position, try to shift your body's CG a bit to the rear, e. g. through slightly bent/flexed knees and(or a half-sitting position. This also helps keeping the upper body upright and the sliding foot ahead.
Without a good knee bend, you will probably not slide and lean forward, killing any leverage in your release and also hanging onto the ball for too long - the loft is a good sign that this might be the result of the non-bent knee, timing issues and problems that lie much earlier in the approach than just the release itself.
