Axis Tilt

Anyone have any methods for increasing axis tilt?

Do you want your track to be further from the thumb and fingers? (just clarifying)

One way is to cock your wrist, if you're righthanded, to the inside. Hold your hand, palm up, as if you're holding a ball. Keep forearm straight and turn your hand towards your left so that the hand is at an angle to your forearm. (Reverse this is you're left handed.) Throw the ball with your wrist cocked until the release point.

Also most times, if you turn the ball early, with your thumb still in the ball, your axis tilt will increase. This is generally an undesireable effect.

charlest -- The correct question is "Do you want the diameter of your initial track ring to be smaller?"  Not all tracks that are located away from the thumb and fingers have high axis tilt.  --  JohnP

I am a high tracker with low tilt.
I would love to be able to add tilt on demand when I need the ball to push a little bit. This would allow me to stay with one ball much longer instead of grabbing a weaker cover to get some length.

Yes, I know. I just figured I'd start with the basics.
"high" is also relative.
When I turn the ball early, my track gets further from the holes but the diameter doesn't change. Mine remains at 10 1/2" = 20 degrees and I think that's too high.

I thought if I started with "do you want to reduce the diameter of your track", his eyes might cross. You never know the level of knowledge of the asker of the question. Enough people still confuse tilt with rotation.

My meathod is to "throw like Tommy Jones".  If you have the wrist strength to.  Watch the way he comes out.  The man has a ton of tilt.  Carrys well too.

Yes, I was pretty sure you knew, but hate to take the chance of misleading other folks.  So many people are confused about track directions, axis tilt, and axis rotation, what they all mean and how they affect the PAP location.  --  JohnP
