Knee surgery
« on: February 20, 2011, 02:25:23 PM »
Has any one had their miniscus repaired? I just had mine done about three weeks ago and was wondering how long it took to get back to bowling . I had a slight tear and some worn cartilage  that needed attention. Drilled four small holes into the knee itself. Any input would be greatly appreciated............

Sounds like you had micro-fracture surgery, which holes are drilled into the knee region to generate new or improved growth.

Being said, that isn't a simple or minor procedure and would highly recommend you gaining advise of the surgeon or rehab people you are dealing with.

Been there done that twice.  I would say you are out at least 10 weeks.  Trust your Dr on this one.  He is going to be the one looking at the xrays and MRIs.  He will  know when it is safe.  Also, get them to get a made to order knee brace through your insurance.  You will be using it for a long time to come for bowling.

The doctor said 8 -10 weeks. I guess what I meant to ask was how long after you guys got back to bowling did it take to feel 100 %. Did you have to work up to it i.e bowling  one at a time building up to three or four games.......
Also, it  is my slide leg...........
