Is there anything at home I can use to clean my bowling balls?

I've used glass cleaner in the past but now I'm wondering if it helps at all, hell it might even be hurting.
Is there any household products I can use just to clean the surface of my balls, water? Glass cleaner? Anything ?

I use a solution of 50% Simple Green concentrate and 50% Rubbing alcohol.

Works great

I seem to remember that someone claimed here that one of the commercial ball cleaners was actually windex.

 

But like Cobalt Bomb, I use a Simple Green mixture with good results.

I have lysol all purpose cleaner here at my house sounds similar to the simple green stuff says it cuts grease etc, would it be similar results if i mixed that with some rubbing alcohol?

 I'm not sure about lysol, never heard of anyone using that. I would try it on a old ball you don't use first. LOL

formula 409 or any similar household cleaner/degreaser used to clean surfaces like stove tops the stuff you by in the pro shops from storm or whoever else is the same thing but they rap you big bucks because there name is on it...I have been throwing a virtual energy for 2 seasons now its gotta have 250+ games on it and after every set I clean it with the 409 and that ball reacts the same as the day I took it out of the box.

Rubbing Alcohol is all I ever use to clean my gear and it works great, Usually after each use I will pull them out and clean them up.

I've been using a mixture of Simple Green and water for about 10 years and it works great. It cleans off all but the absolute worst stains/marks/grime. If it doesn't a light sanding or acetone works. This mixture costs pennies per use as opposed to $10 for an 8oz. bottle of bowling ball cleaner. I haven't noticed any loss in ball reaction due to a buildup of residue or anything like that.
