Shoes...thoughts?
« on: February 19, 2017, 05:49:03 PM »
Never had shoes with changeable pads. Been using Dexter mid level Pro Am II's. Work pretty well but with bowling in different centers, having the option to change soles and heels would be nice. Are there any pairs that's pads are secured better to the shoe (clip vs stick), good breathability, great comfort level, durability?

I see Hammer dropped some, there's the Dexter 9's, TPU's, 3G's. Just looking for some opinions. At $55 a pair on these Pro Am II's, it's tempting to just get a new pair every year or two and call it a day, but curiousity is spiked.

Got them pulled up right now! Strongly considering these. Did Brunswick come out with something new to replace these or are they always this good of a deal?

Those were the shoes manufactured for Brunswick by KR Strikeforce before the latter moved on to the EBI brands. That's why they are on sale. Definitely good quality and lots of people like them, but they also have a fairly different feel than anything made by Dexter. If possible I would at least try a pair on first.

But they're also a great deal. The extra accessories that come with the shoe alone would almost match the overall price if they were bought separately.

Pyramid also are available as well for under 100 (basically made with the exact same materials, either way, you'll be glad you did (your feet sure will that's for sure).

I purchased the TPU-X and the insoles did feel weird to me.  The arch didn't match up with my actual arch.  But I also have extremely flat feet.

I put an over-the-counter orthotic in it and it is real nice.

They used to be ON SALE for $139.95, with an original selling price of $159.95 (Hammer's version now seems to sell for $169.95). Pyramid's version sells for $99 or so. Steven can vouch for those.

FYI I bought a back-up pair of the TPU-X for $98 when they were starting to go on close-out. Also bought a bunch of soles, but now I see the Pyramid (BowlingBall.com) versions are 1/2 the price of the Brunswick/Hammer soles.
