Lane Damaged Ball !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: February 26, 2005, 04:12:46 AM »
How bad a bad is damaged by ball returned should be replace instead of repair?
Last night My Morich Onslaught Got damage on the ball returned. It came back with a 3/16 grove about 8 inches Long!! Can that be repair??? What effect it be on the ball? I don't think is repair able cause It covers the whole ball. Is it reasonable enough to ask for replacement? cause the ball has less than 50 games on it.

Most lanes in my area will NOT replace a ball thats been damaged. They have signs up all over saying they are not responsible.. They will fix the damage, but thats it.. Not sure you will get a new ball out of it, but you can ask and see what they say..

In my area they have signs everywhere but if it happend inleague and you gripe enough they will usually replace it if it really can not be fixed.  Its too bad of pr to not do that.  However, it will be either a blnk ball they give you or it will get drilled up by them or whoever they deal with.  So if ur favorite ball driller isn't affiliated with them, then ur probbally out of luck.  But unless they are complete incompetent copying a ball shouldn't be that hard.  That being said, you do have to realise that ur ball will get some damage bowling.  I used to work at bowling alleys and people would complain about the littest scratches sometimes.  How ever yours sounds a bit more serious.

Lots will repair, but few will replace.  Sever damage such as this, especially on a newer ball, should be replaced IMO.  Good luck.

I agree that accidents happen and they really cant do a whole lot about it most of the time, but. Suppose someone drops a ball on the ball return and damages it, or sticks a thumb and throws is into the bumpers on the kid next doors lane. I bet they would ask for compensation. I think if you are reasonable in your request, not an azzhole about it, they will do all they can.
