Title: Lane Differences???
Post by: jmattox on July 04, 2008, 12:25:47 AM
I am going to start bowling at a house that has synthetic lanes and I was wondering does it make a difference in what ball I would use. The house I currently bowl at has wood lanes.

Generally, expect to have overall less grip compared to wood, the oil tends to stay in place longer, and carrydown can become an issue more easily than on wood. But that's really very general speaking. Even the differences between synth lane covers can vary very much, e. g. depending on their age and the manufacturer. But I'd at least anticipate some slippery situations and bag a true oil ball
