I believe a league that would have a revolving patterns would make it interesting.

Rotating patterns as long as they told you what the next weeks pattern would be.
With a mystery pattern for position rounds.

im in a league that has 8 weeks of short, 8 of medium, 8 of long, 4 of nats minors, 4 of nats team
awesome league
you a chance to learn something with equipment and surfaces
few years they tried 3 weeks per pattern and you couldn't get comfortable with equipment and/or surface

If it is league, something in that 4:1 or 3:1 range.  I'd make it a softer sport pattern.

My friend who runs a center mixes it up for his league bowlers. There is no "mainland house shots," we call it "china wall" lol

Each quarter he'll have his lane guy change the pattern, and he does inform the leagues. He also does this.... have the even lanes with a short pattern and the odd lanes with a long pattern...I believe they use WTBA patterns.

Every sport pattern league I have ever been associated with rotates the patterns.  That is what I like about them.

 I have to be honest, in that my love of sport patterns is somewhat self serving.  As an older guy who never was a high rev player, I have built my game around playing straighter with lower axis rotations.  The versatility I get from this has allowed me to be much more competitive on flatter patterns than on house shots. 

Unlike some people I have no problem with house shots in terms of thinking they are too easy.  I wouldn't even have a problem if they rotated in a THS is my sport leagues.  I think the skill to hit a THS is just as great as the skill to hit most any given sport shot.  The problem is that a steady diet of any pattern inhibits the development of the versatility needed to be competitive at a high level.

I voted Sport.  But I would be happy with something that changes from time to time.  Plus I suck at THS.

I already bowl a PBA league and drive 45 minutes each way to do it. But I would bowl another instead of a house shot league if it was available.

i would vote for a 4:1 pattern or there abouts. something like the nationals team pattern. still easy and versatile enough to score on for most everyone but not a great wall. that would be my difference between leagues and tournaments. leagues get 4:1 or 5:1 and tournaments get the true sport patterns at 2:1. i want my tournament leader averaging 220 max. cut score around even and field average around 190

In all fairness, the voting may be a bit skewed towards the popular opinion of bowlers on THIS SITE.  I see the polling reflecting that.

Do we really believe that bowlers prefer PBA/Sport and modified patterns by around a 3:1 ratio?  We all know how many WANT inflated averages, so the OP's poll, that's a reflection of this site. 

We're probably all a bit more serious as evidenced to our very existence on here, most bowlers that are THS bowlers likely aren't serious enough to worry about things such as coverstock prep, differential and RG etc.....

I think you left out challenge shots(3:1 to 5:1 ratio I believe?) as an option.

Ideally I'd prefer to bowl on challenge patterns for league. I've only heard of one center ever doing this that I know of and it's not even in my state. I'd like to bowl on something that's demanding enough where I have to make good shots and think but maybe not as much as what a sport shot requires. Why? Because after work I want to be able to relax and have fun with my teammates as well, which past experience tells me isn't always possible in a sport league environment for various reasons.

I've bowled in THS and sport shot leagues and have enjoyed both but overall I just think a challenge league would be a better mix of the two for a league environment.
