Guys,
I'm not talking about HUGE moves here. Most of us know where "BALL A" fits in relation to "BALL B" in our line up. Maybe it's a small 2 & 1 move, or something small like that. If I'm not right, where's the harm? I can always go back to the ball and line I was using before, can't I? I don't HAVE to stay on the wrong line unless I'm a glutton for punishment.
How many hundreds of times on your drive home from league did you think of something that might have worked? Too late to ever know because you were afraid to try it though. Sometimes I guess wrong, and sometimes I guess right, but at least I know I tried the things that came to mind. Most of us bowl house shots 90% of the time, so why not take a frame or two to try an idea that could possibly make that drive home easier?
We are all wired differently, so not everyone thinks like I do (thank goodness), but the old saying "nothing ventured, nothing gained" seems like it may fit here. Some nights everything you tried may not have worked, and you grinded, and grinded your way to a sub par night. Then there may be the occasional night when you went 180, 230, 250 and went home satisfied that your plan worked...
There is no right or wrong way here. A subtle move, though, can be the difference in carrying the 10 or leaving it all night and seeking solace from other frustrated bowlers. Only you can weigh the alternatives and decide.
