Last night our lanes were oiled in the normal fashion, but due to some mechanical errors the machine left some stripping and lane gunk in a lane-wide line at about 45 feet or so. The guy running the lanes wanted to just take a cloth and wipe up the mess. The center manager told him to run the lane again.
Once we started bowling on it, we knew there was trouble. The lane that had been run twice was just flooded - no back end, no recovery area, nothing. Pretty much like bowling on an icy sidewalk. The other lane in the pair was fine. The manager insists that the machine can clean the lane before putting down the pattern. My belief is that the machine can do the job on a burnt up pattern with a lot of carry down, but stipping a fresh shot would be difficult due to the volumes of oil involved.
So, is there any credibility to my claim that the machine would do an incomplete job stripping a fresh, unused pattern, or am I just off my nut here?
