The ball I generally use at my league house has a 4-1/2 inch pin and is drilled with the pin at 2:00 to the ring finger and the CG below the midline a LITTTTTLLE bit right of center. This drilling is supposed to flare less and give more length, right?
Now the question is: Higher pins are supposed to give more flare. Sooo... if I have, say, a 1 or 2 inch pin in a ball and drill it with the CG a couple inches toward the axis in a "stacked" type drilling, which one would flare more... the non-aggressively but pin out ball or the aggressive pin in ball?
BTW, the 4-1/2 inch pin ball DOES seem to act fairly aggressive... I still use it on large-oil conditions (it's a Hyde). I have a Piranha Retro drilled with the CG in the same place but only 2" pin out, so the pin is below the ring finger, and it's not near as aggressive on the back end (I'm assuming that's coverstock differences).
One more thing... I remember a post regarding someone drilling a nine-and-a-half inch pin-out ball???!!?? What are the implications of that? In general, what are the characteristics (or preferred drill patterns) for pin in-or-out balls?

Well you also have to look at the RG diff. to see the real flare potential..

It should have good length and a strong backend. Flare less?? I'm not sure.

Thanks.... ttt... maybe I should move this to the drill layout board?

Just once I'd like to show up at a place with the lanes FLOODED 45 feet down and flat. That way I can watch these crankers struggle to find the pocket and leave splits while I come straight off the corner and do nothing but make 4 pins and 10 pins all night.
