last new bowling alley in your area of 20-30 miles
« on: May 29, 2011, 10:23:48 AM »
I'm just wondering please state what city and state along with the year of the last known bowling alley built.

Night club multiple gaming fun bowling alleys like Main Event or that crap in Orange County do not count. I'm talking about a real bowling alley.

Last in my area is 1988 but there is supposed to be new plans in my area for a new alley.

T-Bowl 2 in Wayne, NJ was built in like 2001 or around that. There was actually a T-Bowl across the street, but it was old and run down so they tore it down and built a new one. Lots of money in the area and only 20 minutes outside of NYC so tons of people living in the area too so it was a no brainer to build a new one.

Just had Lodi Lanes close down a few weeks ago, very sad, did great business and the new lanes were some of the best around. A real bowling shot that challenged you, but didn't frustrate you due to it being properly oiled.

There's only one new alley being built and it's about 80% completed for about 2 years now because of bank foreclosure. Lots of alleys have refurbished with new lanes, returns, etc. The bowling industry here is large but has been declining for years.

Suprisingly, a huge one, compeletely new, even though as a part of an entertainment center (slot machines and the like). Another one relocated into a brand new building, and another one re-opened under new management and massive re-design of the interior (calling iself now righteously "Bowling Lounge"). That's rather surprising, even though the gap between those alleys that are the home base of sport clubs and those alleys which rather focus on open bowlers and party fun becoming wider and wider around here. Houses tend to specialize into one direction, with a fluid grey zone between the poles.

Fairfax, Virginia.  I have 10-11 in a 20 mile radius however I can't remember the last one that was built.  I do, however, know the last one to be renovated if that counts.  AMF in Centreville semi renovated when they wanted to turn the place into a gay bar back in 2007 but plans fell under, so now they're just open play with one 10 team sanctioned and a small handfull of fun leagues.  Next would be either Bowl America Falls Church which used to be a locally owned business (they had duckpins!) and probably US Bowling out in Alexandria, heard it looks a lot nicer now than before.  Did a youth tournament there back in the 90's wasn't too impressed but then again I was only 15.  I'm giving it time before the lease runs out on some of the BA's around the area and Brunsiwck comes in and makes them Zones.

I live 80-90 miles east of Dallas, Tx.  In the area, we have one center that has gone up in the last 10 years. It is in Greenville, Tx.

Other than that, the center here was built in the 1950's (even though its been remodeled and modernized several times), and the only other center within 50 miles is in Mt. Pleasant, Tx and, even though its newer, it hasn't been kept up and is in worse shape than our local center.
Learn to laugh, and love, and smile, cause we’re only here for a little while.

In the Center of DFW it would have to be AMF Arlington.  I have not been in it in years.  It opens at 5PM and is across the highway from six Flags.  I'm not sure that it hasn't been remodeled into an FEC or not.  After that iwould be either Watauga.  There have been a number of places with bowling built recently but they are funfest etc.

Wichita Ks... We had a new center completed about 7 years ago. It was built by a local chain to replace a center they were closing.

We had another center built about 15 years ago but was bankrupt in about 4 years and closed permanently about 4 years ago and became a furniture store.

We have had 2 more centers close since.

Lane beds in the area have been reduced by 50% in the last 30 years.

I would so buy a bed made out of an old lane!  The only draw back would be that it would probably weight 700 pounds so I couldn't put it on a second floor

AMF Arlington? Never heard of it. Unless it's an alley someone told me off Lamar. Watauga is my local alley and it was built in 1998 from what I was told. I moved into Fort Worth area in 93. There is supposed to be a new alley in far north Fort Worth off Heritage Trace that is supposed to be in process of being built but don't know the details yet or if it's even true.

Red Rock and South Point here in Vegas both built in the past few years.  Orleans and Suncoast in 2000.  I think those are the last 4 to open in the Vegas valley.
