Carrydown Ball
« on: April 18, 2009, 10:16:19 AM »
hey guys, im just trying to get an idea on a carrydown type ball i could use. im definitely a fan of particle pearls and had an inertia that i loved. im low rev, med-slow speed. just trying to get an idea on options i have, im down for any drillings, and to be honest not looking for a really condition specific ball. please i've seen the 2nd Dimension and not what im looking for.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they''re going flat ten with their OTHER BRANDS ball.

You sure?  Ive got one and the mica def. helps give it some grip in oil/carrydown.  Put a good Semi-Rolly drill on it and its money

I personally like weak covered balls drilled somewhat weak and then use lots of surface.

The weak cover allows the ball to get down the lane without over-reacting and the surface allows the ball to start its move before the carrydown and roll through it.

thanks guys for all the suggestions so far.
larry, i think the dynamo would start moving a little too early because usually carrydown also means heads are starting to go, most of the time i probably could get away with it,
jbuzz, actually if i got one i would probably try something like rico or something like that to keep it rolly, or maybe like 3 inch to PAP to get it started earlier.
Blue, did you see my vid on the hammer forums? i know i suck a lot haha but do you think that combo would be aggressive enough for me?

Well ive got some insight for you. My first 2D  (before it cracked)  was drilled 5x4. If  the backends were clean, i couldnt use it would boomerang of the dry

my new one i got drilled  2.5x1 with a X-Hole on the PAP.  i really liked my first 2D.....but i LOVE this thing. it is phenomenal , I can use this thing all night long now its still pretty angular but not nearly as wild and crazy.
Hope this helps.

for me either Columbia Noize or Track Uprising with abralon finish do the job outstanding
--------------------
Storm Hyroad 1 2000 abralon(benchmark ball)
Storm Hyroad 2 4000 polished
Storm Second Dimension
Storm T-road Pearl

jbuzz that sounds like a drilling i would try.

drrev, i know that but for me it seems like the particle  help out with my game when i get oil down there, seems to transition the spotty conditions better.

Particle is a great ball for carry down but only with the right surface, Polish over a Particle surface gives you this: Urethane read up front with reactive finish on a fresh shot, on carry down it greatly increases the affects of carry down and you second guess yourself all night long instead of just lining-up and throwing, buy a Sidewinder and surface it to 4000 Abralon, this will be a premium set-up for what your looking for.

that was actually the biggest thing i was looking at. i kept my inertia at 2000 and loved it.

I was going to say, particle pearl. I have a Sidewinder, a Track Arsenal Angular and a Lane #1 Golden Nugget. They're at three different surface preps. Very similar look from all three but the common characteristic is they eat carrydown.

Have to agree on this one.  Rolled with some buddies last week in a winner take all tournament.  Lanes were dryish and carry down was killing everything.  The only ball that gave me a good look was my Lane Masters Buzz Attack. (Pearl with Mica).
