We only had one AMF center in my area, and it closed two years ago.

Wow, a whopping two hours before a bitchy bump?  Maybe the site's not the problem?

When I bowled at some AMF houses, they resurfaced them when they needed to.  If one center needed it and the other two didn't, only the one center would.  Resurfacing takes time, trouble, and effort.  No one does it just for the heck of it.  Plus the approaches are usually slick as hell for a while afterward which leads to people complaining about that.  But to answer your question directly, no, the AMF centers near me didn't resurface the approaches.

Telling it like it is.

That would be on a need to ( must) basis. AMF tends to be tight with their spending unless it's a high revenue center.
