Good News! My local Bowling Alley that caught on fire last March will be back up and running this weekend. Its going to be interesting to bowl back there again. They used to be wood lanes now they will be synthetics. Except for the approaches (They are keeping them wood).
Is there anything to look out for bowling on new synthetics?

So was the good news that it caught fire and you get new lanes, or that league is starting again... or both?? hehe

Sawbones summed it up well. Let me add that I have bowled in two houses than have recently made the same transition and they have had a certain amount of difficulty figuring out how to dress the lanes. Sometimes it takes some time for them to adjust to the way the lane conditioner reacts to the different surface.
I'm glad to hear your center decided to stay in business after such a tragedy. Good luck!

Went tonite and threw few practice games at the new lanes. Everything looks great! Wow! Had a nice shot for my games. I tried different ball each game.
Reaction Roll - 224
Wicked - 220
Wild - 200
Scout (Ruby Red)- 201
There was only two of us. My concern is the lanes seemed to dry up pretty quick. Can't wait to start on Friday.
I also found out we will be keeping score by hand for the next 2 to 3 weeks. The automatic score system has not been installed yet. It's been long time since I keep score by hand.
When was the last time any of you bowled without automatic scoring?

Wildone,
I sub in a league that bowls in a small old house with no automatic scoring. I was there a couple weeks ago.
