Blister help!!

I got a new ball on Friday and threw it in league that night, plus warm-ups and a game right after getting my ball earlier in the morning. Well, the ball felt a bit tight on the thumb towards the end of the night. I went into the proshop the next morning and had them put in a bigger insert. By monday morning a small blister formed and I had league monday night. I covered with new skin and things were going ok until the 3rd game when the blister ripped off..... ouch.

The thing is, it feel like the ball rides on the left side of my thumb (with palm down). The blister formed right on the side between the nail and knuckle. This is the 9th or 10th ball this shop has drilled up for me over the the last few years. Every ball has fit like a glove and this ones was just tight. I did just drop to 15lb also, was at 16. Think I should confront the pro-shop with this? Could it be a bad drilling or just the result of the wrong insert in the ball and me being a moron and throwing it anyways?

A blister there is to me a rare spot. Id have the pro shop look at it. Sounds like an oval thumb insert might be something you need. Any discomfort or blistering is a bad thing obviously. A good pro-shop operator should beable to cure your problem.

If you do, be VERY SURE the glue is completely dry before putting your thumb in the ball.  --  JohnP

I thought I read somewhere that people shouldn't just use regular superglue.  The doctors use a glue that is for humans.

ive used superglue and newskin, superglue worked better and stung a whole hell of a lot less.

I don't think it would hurt to discuss this with the pro shop.  Just be tactful about it.  Tell them the last 10 balls they drilled, you had zero problems and were very happy with their service.  Ask if they've seen this with other people who drop weight, or what they think could cause the sudden blistering.  I'm sure they'll do their best to keep a repeat customer happy, especially if they're approached in a manner that politely asks help to resolve an issue.

On edit: Take in one of the other balls that fit well.  Maybe they can measure them to compare and see if there is any difference in the drilling.

Of course take it back to the shop.

They sold you the ball and should be willing to make adjustments.

On the surface it sounds like they got a bad pitch in the thumb but impossible to tell over the internet.

I will be heading into the pro-shop tonight to have him look at it and the ball. I brought one of the other balls with so he can confirm they are drilled the same. Some one stated that it could be the ball weight change and I am squeezing the ball, not the location of blister isn't consistent with a squeeze, I used to years ago and know where those form.....

After the thumb hole being fix. Do not use new skin or superglue use tape that will protect your thumb and provide you with a clean release always.

Use the green for a smooth release or the beige for a smoother release.

I don't want to drop my beer!!!! I have seen that tape, maybe something worth trying. I use the tape in the ball now and take in and out as needed.

He checked the new ball compared to my old ones and everything matched.... just a freak thing... I switched to an oval insert, seemed to be heck of a lot more comfortable. I ordered a new 15lbs spare ball as well, that will be ready friday for league. I'll just need to protect the blister until then and that night.
