grip changes as we get older...
« on: August 28, 2008, 08:06:00 AM »
Well, the bad news is that I'm getting older. Of course, that's also the good news.

I made one change to the grip this week that I really like - my thumb was 5/16" forward - we moved it to 3/16" forward (with the same 1/8" lateral) - it seems to make for a cleaner release with less hang to mess with a sore shoulder.

The other change I was told I might need to make is less palm in the fingers as flexibility goes away with age. Not there yet - actually, my former ball driller made that change a while ago. So far so good on that one. I do notice worn grips faster, though!

Any other experiences out there?

And just what is "Less Palm in the Fingers?"  Less pitch toward the palm in your finger holes, I assume. I just never heard it described that way. Always heard forward and reverse.

We do more "pinky" holes for those with arthritis in the bowling fingers to take some of the load off them.
