What's your toughest game?
« on: October 27, 2004, 02:20:13 AM »
Three game set on one pair, which game characteristically gives you the most trouble?  For me, it's the 2nd game.  For some reason, I just can't figure that one out.  I'm just not sure of the adjustments I need to make when the ball is a little too strong or maybe goes just a little too long.  Finger dancing has been working, but last week, when I moved my pinky out to calm down the reaction, I threw one that had more revs than I think I ever have, missed my mark by 3 boards and it went from hanging on the gutter to a strong pocket strike!!  Kind of shook my confindence for a frame or 2.  By the 3rd game, I know I need to switch to a different ball and usually don't have any problems from there 'til the end -- except for whiffing some spares when the team pot is on the line!!

Mine is generally game one (until this year)  In previous years my average was more than 10 pins lower in the first game.  Last year, I averaged 198 in game 1, 216 in game 2 and 222 in game 3.  I guess I'm a slow starter.  I even tried showing up early to bowl a game before league.  It didn't help.

How's this for a "tough" game.

9 strikes - 203

Depends on the league: on Monday nights it's game two, as the transition hits and you have to make the right moves at the right frame or you will probably leave a lot of back row pins. On Tuesday nights it's been game one, I guess it's hard to get into a groove on this shot even though I warm up a game or two beforehand...

without a doubt-game one

i feel my knowledge helps me a lot(so i adjust well)

most leagues i bowl in give us a game(avg) printout for all the games at the end of year. I have never had a year without last game being the highest, usually 20-30 pins higher than first game.

i need a lot of practice to get warmed up.

Last night was a first for me!!  I got to bowl 2 sets as I was subbing for a team bowling out after our usual league set and game 2 was actually my high game in both!!  Went 171-204-157 ( stinkin' 4-9 in the 9th) in the first and 192-194-183 in the second....Had the 600 in my sites when I left 4 straight 2 pins and whiffed 2 of them!!  Perhaps I have cleared one mental hurdle -- now to get over the 600 bump.  I had an unofficial 700 this summer, but I just can't get the feeling back...
