Ours is a 30 point system broken down as follows:
5 points per game (person vs person; 5 man teams) X 3 games = 15
3 points per game (team) X 3 games = 9
6 points (team series)
for a total of 30 points.
I've also heard of a 24 point variation of this for 4 person teams.

4 point system:
1 point per game and 1 point series
7 point system:
2 points per game and 1 point series.
Do any of you use a different system? I'd just like to hear
about what else is out there.

4 points for each game = 12
3 for series = 3
total = 30
you get an extra 5 points if take more than 28,29, or 30 points
you get an extra 1 point if you sweep your man

Our leagues use an 8 point system:
2 points per game = 6
2 points for total pins (series) = 2
Ties are 1 point each.
I'd prefer the 24 or 30 point system myself, but the odds of getting bowlers to change in leagues here is nearly zero. A 30 point system was presented to the highest average league here some time ago and as simple as that scoring system is, there were those who claimed that they couldn't understand it. So it was voted down. I think the scoring systems which have some head-to-head features mixed in, help to lessen sandbagging to a degree.

It really allowed the teams that shot well to stay in the hunt even if they happened to drop two or three games in a given night.
