Was woundering if anyone from this site live around this area. If so where do you bowl at? I've been at Leisure and have thrown at 30 Lanes as well.

I'm from Davenport, now in Cedar Rapids.  Used to bowl the Tri City Classic at Leisure and got my start at Plaza North aka Miller Time.  Now that 30 lanes has been redone, it's a nice bowling center too!  Got to sub at Highland a few times in my life and that was always a thrill a minute.

I watched the end of the Tri-City Classic this year. I have a friend who throws on the Trophy King team. He shot a 821 and his team beat team Miller time for the out right league win. First 800 series I've seen thrown, it was pretty cool. Tri-City has there own website. Leisure will be getting new lanes this summer so most I've talked to can't wait to try them out.

Trophy King's team captain was a teammate when I bowled in the Classic.  Who shot the 821?

I'm assuming you are talking about Greg being captain? He shot a 711 and only won 1/2 a point. I have never taken the time to ask how the scoring works but I think it's pretty bad to had a series like that and almost get the shaft. Goes to show the type of league it is I guess. He is a bit of info from the Tri-City website....

If your name was Scott this week, you bowled pretty well. Two bowlers named Scott led the league, both shooting over 800 on our final night of the season. First, Scott Wohlwend rolled an 821 set that included games of 276-267-278. What made this series doubly impressive however, was the fact that Wohlwend and his teammates on the Trophy King team were in quite a battle for the League Championship with Miller Time Bowl.

With Trophy King holding a 15-5 lead going into the final game, needing to win only one point to win the League, through six frames it looked like Wohlwend might be the only winner, and that was only if he kept striking. But it was leadoff man Todd Cook who sealed the deal with a double in the tenth to beat Matt Pelham 246-236 and lock up the League Championship for the Trophy King team. Wohlwend also doubled in the tenth, not only winning his point, but also locking up his 800 series and giving his team a 17 1/2 - 12 1/2 victory.

Scott Carpenter was the second "Scott" to roll an 800 series on the final night. Carpenter used games of 299-268-234 to fashion his 801 series. Carpenter also tied teammate Denny Amundson for high game of the night with 299.

Good 'ol Greg!  One of the smoothest lefties I've ever had the privilege of bowling with.  The skill level in that league is through the roof.  Wonder if they still have a waiting list to get in?

I'm not sure if there is a wait yet or not but I would guess so. I watched a lefty by the name of Doug Manhart bowl in the Mississppi Valley Bowling tour when it was at Miller Time. Now he is the best lefty I have personally seen. He is currently 24 over-all down at Baton Rouge. Hey Ern I was woundering if you have ever thrown the sheer havoc ball? I'm kinda in the one of each stage right now. Track Stomp, Pearl Messenger, Black Hammer, White dot. I was looking in to having a ball to play a heavier oil lane and the sheer looks fairly reasonable in price.

Gotta agree with droolly, Doug Manhart is a MIGHTY good lefty, one of the best i've seen.  Got to see him bowl a couple times when he subbed down in Normal, IL over at Pheasant Lanes.  Now anybody who's ever bowled there knows it's DEAD easy, but Manhart took it to another whole level, he's just too good.

Also, the Sheer Havoc is mighty good, but you may want to look at the Rule GP2 if you're looking for more of a heavier oil ball.
