Why No BLACK Textured Tape?
« on: December 10, 2004, 01:05:44 AM »
Has anyone every pondered this other than myself?  I know it has no performance enhancing abilities, it's just my personal preference.

I hate tape.  I'm not prejudice when it comes to tape.  I hate it all, black and white.  But seriously, I just don't like it.  I use it when I have to but I would prefer not to.  However, there are some people that can't live without it.

Actually, VISE GRIPS has some new tapes out with different materials, and a few a black textured ... I got mine at my Pro Shop here in 1000 Oaks.

Nope. What male cares what color it is? Are you an interior designer, are you female, or are you gay?

Blacken it with a magic marker?

I would love to know this too.  I hate white tape myself.  I use white when I have to, but I always cover it up with black.

If you cover it with the black smooth tape, then it fulfills a different purpose other than gripping.

Black = smooth for a proper release when placed at the back of the thumb hole

White = textured for a good grip when used at the front of the thumb hole.

Just as God intended.

charlest,  I will occasionaly use black in the front of my thumb if I need just a lttle to tighten the thumb hole.  I know I'm in the minority on that, but sometime that's all I need.

I've tried to new VISE tapes, and I still haven't decided if I like them or not.  There are noticably more tacky than the standard white tape, and provide much more grip.  My local pro shop got some samples in, so I've been the tester for him, and I'm still forming my opinion on the tapes.

Why would it matter since you can see inside the thumbhole for all of 2 seconds?

Dumbest thing I ever heard of. Why do you care what color it is?
