Leaving a Pocket Six Pin
« on: March 01, 2010, 05:01:33 AM »
Flush pocket shot last night, all that was left standing was the six pin. First for me. Never done it before. Never seen it before. Has anyone else?

actually..... yes!

Our "lower" end of the house here has a big problem with it being just slightly off-set... it becomes a very common leave, on various pocket hits.

Yes, in fact I left a pocket 6 pin this past Sunday in a tournament on the 2010 USBC Open Championship pattern.

Must have been a storm ball.  hammer and track wouldn't leave that.

I'm not sure I believe a "pocket" 6 pin, but I have left them (and the 6-7) on a sharp breaking behind the head pin shot.  You basically graze the head pin and hit the 3 pretty much dead on which chops it off the 6.

I left a pocket 6 pin to shoot my 2nd 299 game. I could not believe it happened, actually the entire bowling alley couldn't believe it. But it happened.

My brother leaves them all the time.  It's just from an insane entry angle.

Definitely a flush pocket shot. I watched the ball finish and really do not know how the six was left standing. Ended up losing the game by 4 pins. Glad to know it happens and I am not hexed.

Can't be a pocket 6 pin! If it was a true pocket hit you won't leave a 6 pin! If the entry angle is to steep then the ball hits the 3 pin to thin, which sends the 3 pin in front of the 6 pin, but that's not a true pocket hit! If you hit the pocket thin, you're to heavy on the 3 pin, which sends the 3 pin back towards 9 pin and doesn't make contact with the 6 pin! I've left then before, but the ball was jumping to hard at the break point and entered the pocket at to steep of an angle. It does hurt your feeling though when it happens and most people will just scratch there head. That's why so many of the great coaches tell everybody to get in the habit of watch the ball all the way through the pin deck so you can learn what's going on with ball reaction and the necessary moves that you need to make!
