lefty have natural hook

i have always heard that leftys  have a natural hook and was wondering if there is any fact to this or is it just an excuse because leftys are better bowlers lol

As a lefty, I have heard this since I started bowling 30+ years ago.  I never really gave it much thought, but I wonder if the lane itself contributes to this.  Lefties bowl on the less used side of the lane, therefore less wear and tear, could this be a factor in the contention that lefties have a natural hook?

As a Bronze coach, this was never brought up in the certification class.

its a couple things. in the past the lane conditions were not the same on the left and right. if you look at old charts the left side was a bit different. another is common wear on the bowling lane. more rightys than lefties. now its not so much.

one big thing was a while ago in the stadium mostly lefties won becuase the lanes were on a very slight tilt so righties were throwing up hill to the pocket.

Being a lefty for 60+ years...

I heard it's because we turn door knobs to the right to open doors...making us impart spin to anyt ball we roll/throw.

its a very popular thing among bowlers... and hell mythbusters usually have a whitedot on hand.. maybe they will test it lol.

ive heard the doorknob thing to and thought it was alittle far fetched but made sense. i wonder if mythbusters would do that????

I dont believe any of it cause there was also a theory that lefties cant bend the ball or have any hand, well as you see in my sig I go against the grain on that one too. I've heard a lot of excuses over the 15 years I've been doing this, and to this day havent heard one that made sense honestly.

We all know in reality it is not possible that leftys have natural hook. Just something someone came up with long ago to mess with people and apparently it did.
