Legal Sandbagging
« on: August 27, 2009, 05:14:59 AM »
So USBC says....."A player started league bowling right handed, but later decided to use a two-handed appraoch.  Is this a change of delivery and in violation of rule 118b?......No, as long as all deliveries are made with the right hand, this would not be a violation of rule 118b"

So lets say you are a 200 ave. bowler.  You try two-handed and can only manage around 140.  You establish a league avreage two-handed.  Then when it comes to handicap tournaments you use one hand.  SIMPLE.

If I am understanding the rule book this a USBC supported way to sandbag in handicap tournaments.

Of course now it means that there'll be more rules in tournaments about no more then a 10 pin drop from a prior year's book average.  That will only stop those that had a book average the prior year.

And this is why I only bowl 2 tournaments a year- USBC Nationals(regular division), and the Peterson- both SCRATCH.

I have actually used this but not in a sandbaggin way. I bowl with my right hand but have worked on 2 Handed ever since Osku made the US Open show. The 2 handed works great on house shots with a ton of oil in the middle and a violent dry on the outside part of the lane. I get way left and 2 hand it with an aggressive ball. I can get enough friction inside to get to the pocket but also am deep enough to get it to recover off the violent dry. I have carried around a paper from an email with USBC saying this is legal cause I have had people complain before. But I have only used it in scratch events. I dont feel it would be right to go into a handicap tourney and totally change but I could hold my own either way. Ive always been in favor of allowing people to switch hands in an event where average means nothing. Isn't it quite a talent to use both hands? I believe in the right forum this talent should be allowed to shine.

Getoffme10pin. you could not be more right! What other sport screw's over the good players. Example, Last year couples league our total pinfall was 2758 pins higher than the winning team yet we finished dead last. HANDICAP IS A ABSOLUTE FU@#ING JOKE!!!!

How about those who take advantage by bowling only one league when that league puts out a sport shot but doesn't certify as a sport league? The averages are obviously much lower but the bowlers are not subject to the sport average conversion tables.

who bowls on handicaped tournaments nowaday?
--------------------
When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

It may not make sense to bowl in handicap tournaments, but a lot of cheaters apparently do.

It's no different than someone like me, who hadnt bowled in a few yrs, but last yr started back up... Well through most of the first half of the league, I was averaging like low 180s

yet i could of easily averaged alot higher......  But by the end of the yr I was up over a 200avg on this second shift league.
