Less new balls down the lanes in a down economy?

Hey bowler nation.  Have you cut back on the number of ball purchases that you might normally pull the trigger on.  Have you cut down on the number of leagues?

No and no.

I don't buy that many in the first place and I only bowl two leagues.

Yes and Yes have been scoring well the last 6 sessions a 641 is my low set, average is 222 during this time. One set under 600 a 580 series in the last 3 months, about the time i slowed way back on buying a ball or so a week.

I honestly think it is because I am throwing the same balls over and over the last few months, also been trying to work the inside of the ball as Randy said on the PBA telecast.

I droped off an old ball at the shop to be pluged and redrilled and noticed I was about ten behind for the day.

I have not yet noticed sales being down in my shop.  In fact, I drilled more balls this past summer than in any previous summer.  It will be interesting to see what happens after the Christmas season, though.  --  JohnP

I have seen a significant reduction in new high end ball sales. I have seen an increase in high end balls brought in from the internet. Still makin it from the drilling, so I don't really mind. It balances out. There has been a huge increase in entry-level ball sales like tornado's scout's, tropicals, and power groove's. Mid-price balls remain steady. Overall just a reduction in high-end ball sales but business is up overall.

A good sign. I'm seeing alot of new faces in beginner bowlers. Seems to be a growing trend.

I've bought 4 new balls though they are power grooves.  I only have time to bowl in the AM before they put down fresh oil so the DRY/r gets a workout on synthetic lanes and the soon to be punched Urethane will get some work on Wood. I have a proactive and regular groove for fresh oil on both surfaces. All drilled weak.

Purchased 2 new balls in the last 2 months, none in the 12 months prior. Bowling the same number of leagues, bowling more tournaments, practicing more than at this time last year.

Just had to drop out of my one league, put a hold on practicing at the lanes,  and stop all ball sales due to my work telling me that my position was eliminated.  So yeah, I've cut back quite a bit.
The Gathering 2014 is near.  July 25-27 in Winston Salem, NC @ Creekside lanes.

Depends on who your asking it sounds like.

Not EVERYBODY is hurt by the economy right now.  Just need to be smart and live within your means.
