Manhood robbing stories

Please share your manhood robbing stories.

We had a breakdown on the right lane during practice last night, so I only got 2 balls there and didn't get lined up.  I tried the same shot that just struck on the left lane for my first attempt on this right lane and left a pocket 8-10.  The ball looked like it checked a little early, but I just shrugged it off and hoped nobody saw it.  Next time up on that lane, I told myself to just make a clean delivery and see what happens.  Clunk.....another 8-10 with nowhere to run and hide.  I posted this shot until the ball was about to hit the pins, so it was pretty embarrassing to say the least.  I quickly put away the old league ball and grabbed something angular on the backend.  I tend to use older balls on the THS during fun leagues as it normally doesn't make much difference.

A friend of mine (really wasn't me) is a pretty hard throwing, down and in player.  Super nice guy who throws it good.  He was on a roll and ran off the front 11.  Senior league stopped to watch as 300 isn't super common for them.  12th ball only got 7 for a.....297.  Ugh!!!  The worst part is that he left the 5-7-10.  Yes folks, the blasted LILLY.  Of course, we tease him about this now.  Only wish I would have been there to see it myself.  After the initial shock and sympathy wore off, I probably would have fallen off my chair laughing.

I have shot the 297 with the Lilly too....was at Holloman Air Force Base and was my first league night there....front 11...ball falls of the thumb on 12....5-7-10....fell down laughing!  Was asked why I wasn't mad and said already have a 300 but how many people shoot 297 with a 5-7-10 on the last ball?
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

During a rough patch in league about 2 months ago.... couldn't carry (and I forgot how to make a 10pin for 2 weeks) but I couldn't miss the pocket either (wrong ball/core-cover combo). Started out game 2 like this........

X , X , 7-10 (pocket) , X , 10pin (miss) , X , 7-10 (pocket, light) , X , X , 10pin miss......

Lets just say that wasn't a "fun" night at the lanes
Reax-45x4.5x40(pin down)
Nexus (original)- 45 x 4 x 35 (pin up)
503t-45x4.5x40
Source-60 x 5.5 x 50
Nexxxus f(p+s)-70x5.5x35
Marauder-55x5x50 (2k+polish)
300t-60x5.5x50 (+polish)
Melee-75x6x40 -- Anyone want to buy this?

I've been neutered so many times over the years and I have forgotten most of them. :)

I can remember twice going for large strike pots.

The first one was over 25 years ago. I had the front 9 in the last game, I needed the first in the tenth for the strike pot ($7000), the first 2 for my first 800, and all three for my first 300.

I threw it good and hit what I was looking at, but was so amped I must have thrown it way too hard and left a 2-4-5.

The second try was about 15 years later ($1000) and I left a solid 8.

After 50 years of bowling I have failed so many times in crucial situations they have become a blur.

More funny than painful, but I did throw a gutter on my last ball of league before.  I think my pair was the last done and we paid out at the end of the night, so there were still quite a few people around (I have no idea if anyone was really watching).  It was on Viper or Cheetah so I was playing way outside.  Sure I threw a few gutters during the year on the short patterns, but I've never had my last ball of the year be a 0.

Is this where I admit to my mother in law (who hadn't bowled in 20 years) forced me to double in the 10th to beat her? I did, so technically - by score - I won... but she was wearing house shoes and rolling a 6 lb. (that's no typo - 6 lb) house ball to a 195. Meanwhile, I was bowling twice a week at the time and using my own stuff in a house where I bowled one of my leagues. Think I ended with low 20-something. I dunno, maybe I should have let her win? :)
Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep...

I wonder where they went? ;)
