Lets try this again... Heres my FULL BODY Video!
« on: July 10, 2004, 09:08:26 AM »
I went tonight to open bowling. I got to try out an old sport shot. It was put on Thursday morning but I bowled on the freshest lane they had. This was my first time on sport shot and I had more luck with my spare ball than cherry bomb. But, I was throwing cherry bomb in video. I hope this one is better than the last one...

All suggestions are welcome!

Thanks in advance!
Kyle

It was hard to be consistent with the cherry bomb. Kept coming to high or not high enough. The spare ball i was able to hook it a little into the pocket and carried really well for a spare ball. Shot a 180 something with it. Had 4 in a row with it so not too bad. This was a broken down sport shot so I probaly couldnt play as deep as I was with the cherry. Hope this helps...

Both allies in town have those returns. They are pretty old centers. This is the better alley. It just was redone and has awesome cosmic where the lanes are blue and all. I dont like cosmic though. It was that brunswick laneshield. I like it  alot ebtter than what it had. I bowled on a freesh sport shot tonight. Got to use my super freakw ith 320 grit for once. LOL. Worked for a game. Shot a 469. 169,140 something then 150 something I think. I kept wanting to throw it out but you cant very much on a fresh sport.

Any one got any tips to work on my form??

Kyle,

That looked pretty nice, very smooth, level head and shoulders.  Swing looks straight.  Nice, soft hand at release, not trying to "catch it".

I agree with Nextlevel though, try to keep your upper body up a little bit more.  You are bending at the waist some.  Trail leg down is one of my personal things too.  If you have enough knee bend, you can keep the top of your right foot (where the shoe strings are) on the floor.  I could do this very well until I had a little auto-pedestrian accident about 6-7 years ago.

Think about walking heel-toe with your second step.  Couldn't tell from the video, but looks like you are using 4 step approach.  It is VERY hard to dip your upper body down AND walk heel-toe.  I can't tell, but if you are shuffling your feet, this will let you dip your shoulders down.

Other than that, I really like your game.  Keep working.  Also, something low flare, solid, maybe even a little surface will help with over/under on a "sport" type pattern.

Also, looks like you are playing fairly far to the right.  If this is a short pattern, you can use something really weak and go up the crack.

later...

That is exactly what Kyle does.  Jowdy recommends a long, smooth swing arc, without a hitting up motion.  Like landing an airplane on the runway.  Watch the video some more and show me where the ball goes up at release.  The release is very smooth, almost too soon, right next to his left ankle.  Swing plane is pretty good, right under his shoulder.

He bends his elbow from most likely squeezing the ball, and his hand, forearm, elbow are not as relaxed/loose as possible.  This could be from a number of reasons, span, pitches, hole size, hole shape, or any of many combinations of them.

Bamaster, comment here please, Kyle's game looks pretty similar to mine, all the way through.  My finishing position is a little better, but his release is more compact, smoother, better IMO.

Kyle, keep working buddy, you are on the right track!!!

Thanks for allt he replies guys! I really do appreciate it! I do in deed squeeze the ball. I am getting a good driller to fix this sometime this month. I will post a new video once my balls fit properly. My approach is a 5 step. I usuaully try to slide th first step and make it small like Mike mentioned before, then you can see the rest. I will work on walking heel toe and keeping that leg down. Thanks again for all your help guys!
