Can't be just the ball. You still have to be able to repeat shots.
I may take 4 balls to a tournament and 2 balls to league and once I selected a ball on warm up,I do not change. Not for 3 games anyway. I finds that I can use the same ball to adjust to lane changes easier than changing ball and get a new read.
It could be because of the pricey Lane 1 stuff that stops you from buying any more or you've learned that number of balls does not equate to scores.
"Bones" is due for a ball anyway. His last new one was a V2 pearl.
PS.
Cannot afford a Lane 1. Costs near C$500 here

Dr. James,
Reason I remembered your V2 pearl was because I was interested in it then too.
Then the V2 particle came out followed by a host of new balls that I sort of lost interest in getting a new one.
Agree that a ball change is the right thing to do at times but the 2 balls I carry for league is "early roll" and "late hook". With that, I do not have much choice to change to and my scores are pretty steady.
In the last 4 weeks of bowling 2 leagues I shot 6 mid 700's just using a "Aftershock" and a "Lion". A 295 (don't laugh) with the Lion.
I did get a new "Thing" drilled for control and repeatability for next year's ABC Nationals in Reno.
Would you say my game can be improved with a Lane 1?
