Anyone have any suggestions for a lighter oil ball? Looking for a ball to fit between my Hammer Doom and my Plastic spare ball. I was thinking of the Roto Grip Neptune. Any thoughts? Thanks.

AMF pearl Angle is a pretty darn good dry lane ball. If you can find one Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle is pretty good too.

Don't argue with an idiot people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

I like the Bash (The G/P, not the R/B) for light conditions. Drilled pin up gets through clean and snaps hard.

You have some options, for sure. I would recommend either Visionary's Blue/Green Centaur, the AMF pearl Angle, Roto Grip's Neptune or Lane #1's Chainsaw.
The Hammer Razyr is another option, as is an Ebonite Tornado and Brunswick Power Groove.
The Razyr, Tornado, Groove and Angle are all either pancake weight blocks or pancake derivatives. The Centaur, Neptune and Chainsaw all have "real" cores in them.
If you can find a Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle, that's another option. It's urethane pearl, but discontinued. It's also not reactive, so it's going to have a different roll characteristic than the others.
Of the three "real-cored" balls, the Chainsaw and Centaur are going to be a bit more even, while I would expect the Neptune to be a bit more angular because of its cover. Typically, I would prefer a true dry-lane ball to be on the low side in terms of angularity because I don't want any surprises at the breakpoint, so if it were me, I'd probably opt for the Chainsaw or Centaur.
You can also get what you're after by buying about a 10-15 year old ball that was for medium light back then. Great deals to be had on eBay for those.

Storm Troad Pearl with weak layout works great for me

I know it is not available anymore, but Hammer's Black Pure Hammer was (and is, in my bag
) a great piece for light conditions and late games. Strong, easy to control, never jumpy - pretty much like a classic urethane piece on streroids.
And, another vote for the Slate Blue Gargoyle, esp. for those with more revs (A urethane Ogre is rumored to be in the pipeline)

something pin axis should be good....

I'm leaning towards the Neptune or a Tropical storm... Thoughts?
-
no to the Tropical Storm, they are alot stronger than advertized off of the dry... A Neptune with a weak drill should work fine, I've seen some Neptunes go pretty straight

Neptune is awesome... hits great too.. on dry dry mine is super smooth hooking..holds the line great..
give it a little head oil and a backend and the ball gets pretty angular ..
i also have the slate blue gargoyle and that ball is pretty sweet too. It gives me a completely different look and roll when nothing else is working.
