Question about Doc's Magic Elixir...

I was checking Bowl.com, for the list of acceptable ball cleaners.
I noticed that "Doc's Magic Elixir", can't be used during sanctioned competition, (only before or after), because it has abrasives in it. This seems really strange to me...I see no abrasives in it. If a lustre clean machine can be used during competition to alter the cover, why can't the "Magic Elixir" be applied?

Its in the"can't be used during sanctioned competition" section because it contains solids not abrasives.
But given how you are supposed to apply Doc's Elixir. You couldnt do it during a game anyway.

Not in tournament play...If I need a little more length, I apply Doc's on the ball...while it's drying (which normally take about 10 minutes "real time") I use another ball. I guess I've been breaking the rules. There are no solids in the mixture as far as I can see. I just poured some elixir through a piece of cheesecloth, nothing showed up in the cloth...
Does not make sense to me.

The solids talked about are not something you can filter out with cheesecloth.
Example-
Lane oil contains solids (ex- one brunswick oil has 100% solids in it.) like the UV additive is a solid in lane oil and is measured in parts per thousand (USBC equipment specs says 1 part per 3000 of the solid content). "Solid Content" here means the lubricants remaining after subtracting all solvents and volitiles.
 so if you pour oil thru your cheesecloth you wont find a bunch of grit like particules filtered out.

The elixir is similar to that in that it can have a solid content. But you wont find it filtering that way.

Im sure some else could explain this better.

To make it simple so others won't speculate.  When I first submitted the Elixir for testing the procedure they used to apply left some film on the ball which they felt might wear the lane surface down if not wiped down.

That is the only reason.
