Help on ball choice...
« on: November 20, 2008, 01:53:48 PM »
Alright, well I'm in the mood to add a new piece to my arsenal and I need some help. In league we always get a fresh shot layed out right before league starts, lately it has been a medium-heavy shot, i'd estimate the length to be around the 40ft.
It has shown me my flawn in my arsenal, my Pain(500 abralon) is great on the heavy stuff, its just a little too much for this shot, where as my Twisted Fury and Blue Vibe just arent enough ball.

For specs, around 15-16 mph ball speed and about 320 rev rate

Any suggestions are appreciated

My Arsenal:
Twisted Fury
Raw Hammer Pain
Blue Vibe

Not to be insulting but with your rev rate do you really find much use for a Pain at 500 grit Abralon? That's about 360 grit US - you could sand wood with that grit! Stock grit on the Pain is 2000 Abralon or 1000 US. That ball will easily fit between your Pain and the Twisted Fury (I assume it's the pearl)

There are many medium-heavy ball that will fit in this slot.
Black Widow
Perfect Rival
Enkryption COde
S75 Break
Twisted Fury Solid
Copperhead
GameBreaker
Pin SLasher
Grand Illusion
Cell
Dimension
Gladiator Solid
T-Road Solid
Ogre Solid
Rising
Break

Take a look at the Perfect Rival. I have Pain for the heavier stuff, a Toxic for medium and Vibe for dry. I have found that the Perfect Rival fits comfortably between the Pain and Toxic.

320 at 15.5mph is pretty rev-dominant. However, if there's high tilt involved, it might work out ok, but the poster admits the Pain is too much.

If you want to stick with Hammer, go with the next step down in the Raw line - such as a Psycho or if you can find one a Doom - which is going to be stronger than the Vibes, but weaker than the Pain. (You may be able to find a Doom on a clearance rack). Don't do the Sauce or Anger, they will be as strong or stronger than the Pain.

Thanks for the suggestions so far... I have the heavy covered and med-light covered... The Twisted Fury Pearl and Blue Vibe I can interchange on med-light conditions, the Twisted gives me a little more mid-lane read, where as the Vibe is all skid/flip power. I do have a higher tilt as janderson has said.

So far: I'd rather go with a solid coverstock. I like the ideas of either T-Road Solid, Pin Slasher, Dimension, or Nkryption Code

I'd choose between the T-Road Solid or Pin Slasher, as I'd be surprised if the Nkyryption Code or Dimension aren't as strong or at least close to your Pain.  I'm personally hesitant about Ebonite but I have seen first hand that the Pin Slasher is quite a ball.  If you want a little more pop go with that.  It has just as much midlane as a T-Road.
