No Tap?
« on: January 03, 2004, 07:57:11 AM »
I know its probable not that uncommon, but I was wondering how many of you have ever shot a no-tap 900 series.  Even though its no-tap I think I would get nervous in the third game with the thought of a 900 series present.

I shot an 870-something no-tap once.  I have found it easier to throw real strikes during no-tap because I know that if I hit the pocket well, I will get alteast 9 pins down.

I shot an 878 once - with 2 no tap strikes.

At a pro am in Carson City, Darris Street shot a no tap 900 across 3 pair - wrapping the ends.

ThrowinRocks,

I had a 900 a couple of years ago during the last night of our couples league.  My average at the time was mid 190's.  That night I was bowling with friends and drinking.  I've had numerous 300 no tap but had never even bowled an 800 series.  Anyway, I still don't know anyone else that has done it.

I shot one last year.  Funny part is that I only had one no-tap 300 before that.  Of course about the only time I bowl them is the week after winter league finishes.

i have had a few 900 no-tap series's but the best one that i remember is i shot 1179 for 4 games. i go 300 - 300 - 279 - 300 = 1179, i know what you are thinking how can he shoot 279. Well i go pocket 7 - 10 get the 10 and then go sheet.

Wouldn't that be 278/1178?  Anyway, nice conversion.

Nevermind, I read it wrong.  Had it it my head that he had a string going and left a 7-10 in the middle, then made it.  That's why I said "nice conversion".  Got to start reading and stop skimming.
